How to sign a PDF file

After uploading your file, pick the right mode: “Only me” for instant self-signing, or “Multiple people” to email signing invitations. The sections below explain both flows in detail.

  1. Upload a PDF from your device, Google Drive, or Dropbox.
  2. Choose who signs: “Only me” to sign yourself now, or “Multiple people” to send the document to others.
  3. Create your signature (draw, type, or upload an image) and place fields on pages: signature, date, text, or checkbox.
  4. Finish according to the mode you chose — see the two sections below for details.

“Only me” mode — sign instantly

  1. Place signature and date fields where needed on the document.
  2. Click “Sign now” to embed your signature directly into the PDF.
  3. Go to the result page and download the signed file immediately — no login required.
  4. You can also save the file to Google Drive or Dropbox from the result page.

“Multiple people” mode — invite signers

  1. Add signers (name and email) and assign each person their fields on the document.
  2. Configure settings: signing order, automatic reminders, and a custom email message if you wish.
  3. When sending, you will be asked to sign in or create a free account so the request is linked to you.
  4. Each signer receives an email with a secure personal link to open the document and sign.
  5. The signer opens their unique link, accepts the terms, then completes their assigned fields.
  6. Track progress on the request page (or My account → Track requests) and download the fully signed PDF when everyone is done.

Sign PDF — frequently asked questions

Yes. You can sign PDFs online for free in your browser with fair limits on the free plan and higher limits on Pro for larger files and more signers.

Files are processed only for signing, then removed automatically after a short period (one hour on the free plan). We do not share them with third parties.

Simple signature embeds your signature as an image on the PDF. Digital signature (Pro) embeds a cryptographic seal inside the file so any later edit shows as “modified after signing” in PDF readers, prints a reference number on the page, and stores a SHA-256 hash of the document in a registry you can use to verify it. It is a tamper-evident platform seal, not a qualified certificate-authority signature (QES).

“Only me”: you sign yourself right now and download the signed PDF immediately — no invitations. “Multiple people”: you prepare the document, assign fields to each signer, send email invitations; each person signs via their own link while you track progress until everyone is done.

After you send the signing request, each signer gets an email with their name and a secure personal link. The link opens the signing page where they review the document, accept the terms, then fill their fields (signature, date, text…). You can customize the email subject and body before sending.

The sender gets notifications at the email on their account: first when any signer completes signing (with the signer’s name), and again when all signers are done so they can download the final PDF. You can also follow every action on the request tracking page without waiting for email.

Right after sending, the tracking page opens automatically. Later: sign in → My account → Track requests, or open the tracking link you received after sending. You will see each signer’s status, the event log (sent, viewed, signed…), and options to resend invitations or download files.

For “Only me” mode, no — sign and download right away. For “Multiple people”, yes — you must sign in or create a free account before sending invitations so we can link the request to you, send you notifications, and let you track it later.

Yes. The interface is responsive on phones and tablets. Signers can also sign from their phone using the invitation link in their email.
